For now this page is to be unlinked to from the main page while the forum rules are being finalized. If a need to have the rules appear both on the forum and on the wiki is seen by anyone after the rules have been finalized, feel free to remove this disclaimer and link the page to the main wiki. Until then, though, I don't think the process of developing the rules should be public.

The following rules have been proposed as the written rules for the forum:

  • No discussion about or in

volving piracy allowed. This includes discussing or mentioning downloaded roms , sites from which roms can be downloaded, or any suspicious sources.

  • Read the FAQ before asking for help. If your question is not answered or is totally missing then you should post it in the appropriate subforum.
  • Be accurate and descriptive with your help request. Provide as many details as possible, including where the problem occurs , what did you do before it occured, etc. Also provide details about your system, including what version of DeSmuME you're using, what operating system you're on, and computer specs (CPU, RAM, Graphics card).
  • Unofficial builds of DeSmuME are not supported, they might contain harmful code (aka virus or malware). If you didn't download it from the official DeSmuME site or didn't compile it yourself from the official source, you're not gonna get help.
  • We don't provide help with downloading and compiling the DeSmuME source code (aka SVNs). If you want to try your hand at compiling there are extensive guides to doing so on the wiki.

--- zeromus' alternate rule set

  • Read the FAQ before asking for help. If your question is not answered or is totally missing or the advice simply doesn't work then you may post about it in the appropriate subforum. This rule is common courtesy to others.
  • Don't say you downloaded games or discuss how to download them. Apart from being illegal, this immediately flags you as a noob and makes you an outcast. This rule is the bedrock of emulation society.
  • Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver don't exist in our world. Don't try and talk about them. This rule acts as flood control.
  • These rules may be waived for smart people.

extra unnecessary rules:

  • Be accurate and descriptive with your help request. Provide as many details as possible, including where the problem occurs, what did you do before it occured, etc. Also provide details about your system, including what version of DeSmuME you're using, what operating system you're on, and computer specs (CPU, RAM, Graphics card). This rule is common sense.
  • Unofficial builds of DeSmuME are not supported; they might contain harmful code (aka virus or malware). If you didn't download it from the official DeSmuME site or didn't compile it yourself from the official source, you're not gonna get help. We don't provide help with downloading and compiling the DeSmuME source code (aka SVNs). If you want to try your hand at compiling there are extensive guides to doing so on the wiki. This rule protects our sanity, as unofficial builds usually contain bugs which we have already fixed.
